Women’s Central American Softball Championship set to open in Guatemala

World No. 27 Guatemala (two teams), No. 47 Panama, No. 54 El Salvador and unranked Costa Rica and Honduras will participate in the regional tournament.

The Women’s Central American Softball Championship is set to begin today (Friday, 26 November) at Vista Hermosa diamonds in Guatemala City. World No. 27 Guatemala will field two national teams, with No. 47 Panama, No. 54 El Salvador and unranked Costa Rica and Honduras set to participate in the regional tournament.

The teams will play a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday to complete the round robin, with the playoffs to be played on Sunday. The top team in the standings will advance to the final, the second-place team will qualify for the semifinal, waiting for the winner of a game between third and fourth-place finishers.

El Salvador travels to Guatemala as the defending champion. Back in 2019, El Salvador defeated Guatemala, 2-1, in the final to clinch the title.
