XXVI Pan-American 12U Championship: Results Day 1, November 2

The XXVI Pan-American 12U Baseball Championship started on Friday, November 2 in Barraquilla, Colombia and will be played through Saturday, November 10. On the first day of the competition host Colombia and Panama celebrated shutouts to open the tournament with wins.

The XXVI Pan-American 12U Baseball Championship started on Friday, November 2 in Barraquilla, Colombia and will be played through Saturday, November 10. On the first day of the competition host Colombia and Panama celebrated shutouts to open the tournament with wins.

In the first game Panama defeated Brazil 1-0. Pablo Jesus Falconett scored the lone run of the game in the second inning. Camilo Hinestroza, Eduardo Merchan and Fernando Gibson combined to issue just four hits and five walks in seven scoreless innings. Merchan also collected two hits at the plate. Felipe Pereira De Oliveira was charged with the loss.

In the second game Colombia stormed past Peru winning 15-0 in four innings. They scored four runs in the first, two in the second, five in the third and four in the fourth. Shortstop Francisco Acuna led the way, going 3-for-4 with a homerun, a double, three runs scored and two RBI. Four more players scored twice. Starting pitcher Leandro Emiliani faced just two batters over the minimum to concede just two walks in four scoreless no-hit innings. Rodrigo Rey Salinas took the loss.
