Indios del Boer win sixth Nicaragua Professional Baseball League title

The long ball proved the key, as Manuel Geraldo and Melvin Novoa's home runs decided Game Five and Six. Pitcher Luis Martinez earned two wins and MVP honours.

Indios del Boer beat Gigantes de Rivas four games to two in the final series and claimed their sixth Nicaragua Professional Baseball League (LBPN) title. They succeed Leones de Leon.

After trailing 2-1, Indios won three in a row to clinch the pennant.

With the series tied at two, Game Five went through seven innings with no score. The regular season's home run leader Manuel Geraldo went deep against reliever Samuel Adames in the eighth and put Indios ahead. It was the second home run of the series for the Indios' third baseman.

The game had been a pitching duel between Indios' Yeudy Garcia and Gigantes' Leonardo Crawford. They both left with a no decision as in the Game One 12-inning drama. Bryan Torres pitched two innings for the win, and Olbis Parra worked the final three outs for the save.

Catcher Melvin Novoa hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth off reliever Victor Capellan to break a 2-2 tie in Game Six.

Luis Ramirez allowed two runs over eight innings and earned the win. Olbis Parra worked the final three outs.

It was the second win in the series for Ramirez, who earned MVP honours.
