Juan Diego Morales tossed a one-hit shutout today for Team WBSC in their Placement Round game against South Africa to give the team their first win with a 3-0 scoreline. The right-hander struck out nine against three walks, also contributing on offence as he drove in the first run of the game and scored the second.

In the first inning, Team WBSC gained a 2-0 lead, as Morales hit an RBI single to plate Nery Natareno, and reached the home plate himself on a wild pitch.

Team WBSC added one more to lead 3-0 in the fourth inning, as Henry Castillo led off with a double, and later scored on a wild pitch.

Both teams, along with Israel, are tied at third place in the Placement Round with a 1-2 record.
