Following a year old project to spread softball throughout Peru led by Peru Softball Federation President Marisa Matsuda – “Softball PERU, grow away!” – the championship was a huge success with increased interest to the sport from children, parents, companies, and authorities.

Special guests were invited to opening ceremonies, including the President of the Peruvian Institute of Sport, Mr. Saul Barrera Ayala, President of the South American Softball Confederation, Mr. Antonio Morales, Mr. Giorgio Mautino Battuello, National Director of Sport Affiliate, the Mayor of the District of Pueblo Nuevo Professor Hugo Jesus Buendia Guerrero, and the Secretary General of the South American Softball Confederation Mr. Javier Anaya. Maria Teresa Mejia, umpire from Colombia, was also recognised on the 34th anniversary of her first international tournament that started in Peru.
