Dennis Kasozi elected as new UBASA President

The Uganda Baseball and Softball Association (UBASA) recently held elections for their executive committee. Dennis Kasozi was elected as the new president of the national governing body for baseball and softball. The executives will serve a two-year term ending in 2017.

The Uganda Baseball and Softball Association (UBASA) recently held elections for their executive committee. Dennis Kasozi was elected as the new president of the national governing body for baseball and softball. The executives will serve a two-year term ending in 2017.

Mr. Kasozi will be joined by the following:

  • Vice President: Alioni Geoffrey
  • Secretary: Owora Deusdedit
  • Treasurer: Esther Nakabugo
  • Publicity Secretary: Mukhobe George
  • Technical Baseball: Allan Otim Amin Hurst
  • Technical Softball: Japaowitt Rosemary
  • Disciplinary: Ssempa John Bosco

The elected executives also appointed the Appealing Committee, which includes Tibagye Emmanuel, Henry Odong, Kunihira Marble, Benedict Nsana, and Moses Patrick Walusonzi.

Uganda has working diligently to develop both baseball and softball within Uganda. In 2014, the first ever dedicated baseball and softball stadium was officially opened by the UBASA in Kampala. The National Friendship Stadium, situated just north of the Ugandan capital in Gayaza, is the first full-size national baseball and softball facility in the country and the whole of central Africa.

The Uganda women’s national softball team is schedule to participate in their first softball world championship this summer in Surrey, Canada.
