Pakistan defeats India to win inaugural Dubai Cup Baseball Series

DUBAI – The World No. 26 Pakistan Men’s National Baseball Team defeated No. 61 India, 11-2, in the final of the newly launched Dubai Cup Baseball Series in the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan captain Umair Imdad Bhatti led his nation’s offense with a home run and four runs scored in the championship game.

The new international competition was organized by the Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) under the auspices of the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA), and was sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

The result in Dubai will have implications on the end-of-the-year standings in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings Presented by ENEOS.

Baseball leaders are hopeful the new initiatives like the Dubai Cup can further promote baseball’s global growth and strengthen collaborations in emerging territories across the Middle East.

Baseball, due to return to the Olympic programme in 2020, has been experiencing unprecedented growth, with National Team activity accelerating in emerging territories like Africa and the Middle East.
