Sri Lanka Baseball Championship opens

The Sri Lanka Baseball Championship 2016, the top club competition in the country, opened this weekend at Japan-Lanka Friendship Baseball Field.

DIYAGAMA, Sri Lanka – The Sri Lanka Baseball Championship 2016, the top club competition in the country, opened this weekend at Japan-Lanka Friendship Baseball Field.

The one-week, double-elimination tournament features 10 teams, with the champion of Sri Lanka being crowned on Sunday, 18 December.

The national competition is being organised by the Colombo-based Sri Lanka Baseball Softball Association.

At the international level, Sri Lanka is currently No. 54 in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings.
