U-23 Baseball World Cup – Games 10-12: Panama, Korea, Mexico end Day 2 with wins

Worlds No. 15 Panama, No. 3 Korea and No. 8 Mexico were all victorious in late games as two days are now complete at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup® 2016.

MONTERREY, Mexico – Worlds No. 15 Panama, No. 3 Korea and No. 8 Mexico were all victorious in late games as two days are now complete at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup® 2016.

Game 10: Panama 17, Czech Republic 3

Home runs from Rodrigo Abdel Vigil Aguire and Gerald Josymar Chin Dixon keyed a 7-run fourth inning for Panama (2-0) as they went on to defeat the Czech Republic (0-2), 17-3, in a 10-run rule shortened game.

Chin Dixon knocked in four runs along with teammate Allen Octavio Cordoba Pose who hit a solo home run in the first.

Panama received five innings on the mound from starter Javier Alexander Garcia Bultron who struck out five in picking up the win. Czech Republic starter Marek Minarík was tagged with the loss.

Game 11: Korea 17, South Africa 3

Eleven different Korea (2-0) batters recorded hits as they scored runs in each of their first four offensive innings to come away with a 17-3 win over South Africa (0-2).

A six run first innings set the tone as Korea chased South Africa starter Liam Mathew Vincent from the game after just one-third of an inning as he took the loss.

Taehun Lee homered and had three RBI, while Korea used six different pitchers with Jiseob Lim getting credit for the win.

Game 12: Mexico 4, Venezuela 0

Jesus Fabian Anguamea Serna struck out 11 over six scoreless innings to lead host Mexico (1-1) to a 4-0 win over Venezuela (1-1).

Mexico scored two runs in each of the first two innings to build a 4-0 lead.

Gilberto Carrera Yañez had a two run double, while Moises Gutierrez Molgado drove in a run as both players went 2-for-4.

Venezuela starter Jose Luis Berroteran Salinas took the lost after working an inning and a third before Alexander Jose Diaz Colmenarez kept Mexico off the scoreboard the rest of the way with six and two-third innings of scoreless relief.
