Seoul (Korea). Team USA rebounded from their 2-8 loss to Korea on Saturday with an 11-1 win over Colombia on Sunday at Mokdong Stadium. The American offense, which looked flat against the hosts, needed just seven innings, winning due to ten-run mercy rule. It is their second win in three games at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship, as Colombia dropped to 1-2.

The American offense, which looked flat against the hosts, needed just seven innings, winning due to ten-run mercy rule. It is their second win in three games at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship, as Colombia dropped to 1-2.

The United States scored eight of their eleven runs in the first three innings and crossed the plate in each frame except in the fourth and sixth. Jeremy Martinez continued his hot hitting with a bases clearing triple, highlighting a four-run third. Reese McGuire also drove in three. Leadoff hitter Ryan Boldt walked four times, stole five bases and crossed the plate for four runs.

On the opposing side the offense couldn’t do much against southpaw Stephen Gonsalves. He struck out eight batters in seven strong innings, allowing only a second-inning run to Alvaro Noriega and six hits and two walks overall. Colombia’s starting pitcher on the other hand lasted just two outs in the first, taking the loss after one hit, three runs and three walks.
