Chinese Taipei defeats Japan to become 2014 U-12 champions of Asia

MANILA, Philippines — Chinese Taipei defeated Japan, 7-3, to become to the 2014 U12 champions of Asia.

MANILA, Philippines — Chinese Taipei defeated Japan, 7-3, to become to the 2014 U-12 baseball champions of Asia.

Six nations participated in the five-day Asian Championship: Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

The Asian U-12 Baseball Championship, organized by WBSC Asia (Baseball Federation of Asia) and held every two years since 2000, is open to 11-12 year-old players.

Chinese Taipei has won every title except for the first Asian U-12 championship in 2000, won by South Korea, and the most recent tournament in 2012, which was won by China.

In 2015, the III WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, which is the world championship event and highest level of competition in the world for this age category, will be staged in Tainan, Taiwan.

USA is the current U-12 World Champion, having defeated Chinese Taipei in the championship finale of the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2013.
