Nicaragua, Australia and Mexico open Day 3 of the U-12 Baseball World Cup with wins

TAINAN, Chinese Taipei-Nicaragua defeated Panama to make things more complicated in group B, where Australia still has a chance to make the super round after winning against Germany. Mexico scored 13 in the fourth to beat Czech Republic 18-3

Nicaragua, Australia and Mexico opened Day 3 of the U-12 Baseball World Cup with wins against Panama, Germany and Czech Republic.

Nicaragua (number 15 in WBSC ranking) defeated Panama (number 14) 10-2.
Nicaragua got to starter Anthony Gonzalez in the third. Catcher Benavides walked, center fielder Lopez followed with a base hit and the switch to Adan Sanchez as a pitcher doid not work. The reliever’s performance was in any way as stellar as it was against Korea. Actually catcher Batista struggled when it came to stopping his pitches and the outcome was 4 runs by Nicaragua.
Adan Sanchez went back to his usual self when he sent a moon shot to left for a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. Designated hitter Villareal followed with a long single off the fence to left, but Batista flied out to right to end the inning.

With one out in the fifth, Adan Sanchez went back to third base after shortstop Machado doubled off the fence to left. Miguel Gomez took the mound, but on his very first pitch first baseman Bravo homered on a bullet to left center to extend Nicaragua’s lead to 6-1.
Nicaragua added 4 more runs in the sixth thanks to base hits by red hot Machado and first baseman Collado off Omar Gonzalez, fourth pitcher of the day for Panama.

Montealto went 5 innings for Nicaragua. He experienced some control issues in the bottom of the fifth (a hit batsman, a walk and a balk) but escaped the jam when Mc Kenzie grounded out to first.
Torrents pitched the sixth allowing a run on a single by catcher Batista.

Jarod Montealto pitched 5 strong innings for Nicaragua

Australia defeated Germany 9-1, backing 5 strong innings (3 hits and 2 walks, 6 strike outs) by starter Oscar Hyde with 10 hits against 2 german pitchers: Redle and Hoppe. Shortstop Baker, Hyde (2 doubles) and third baseman Padovan had 2 RBIs each.
Baker took over for Hyde on the mound in the sixth and allowed one unearned run.

Macias had 5 RBIs for Mexico against Czech Republic

It was a real game for 3 innings, than Mexico scored a record 13 runs in the fourth to accomplish an 18-3 win against Czech Republic.
Mexico offense had 22 hits against 4 czech pitchers (Skala, Votava, Grossman and Bubenik; the last couldn’t get an out), with left fielder Macias connecting for a home run and 5 RBIs. Second baseman Monjaras also had a home run but had to settle for 4 RBIs. Each man in the line up had at least one hit. Star center fielder Tirado went 3 for 4, being a little less than perfect for the first time since the tournament started.
Pitchers Segura and Fornue combined for a no hitter. Notheless, Czech Republic scored 3 in the top of the second when Segura walked the bases loaded and allowed the runs on 2 consecutive balks and a wild pitch.
