Panama readying for U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017

PANAMA-Manager José Murillo and his coaches are working hard on a 30 player squad: conditioning first, then technical drills. On June 16 the first warm up game

PANAMA CITY, Panama — Panama is working to narrow its pre-National Team selection of 30 players to the final 18-player roster for the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan.  Manager José Murillo and coaches Earl Agnoly, Cirilo Cumberbatch, José Camarena and Vicente Garibaldo have been concentrating first on conditioning and technical drills.

“Our plan was to work hard on defense,” commented Murillo. “But we also improved a lot our hitting and bunting techniques.”

The pre-selection has been working out during the evening/early morning hours to adapt to the time difference in Taiwan, while playing against local youth teams.

Managing Director of the Panamanian National Federation (Fedebeis) Anibal Reluz is following day-to-day operations on the field.

Panama will compete in Group B, together with Australia, Germany, Korea, Nicaragua and the United States.

Chinese Taipei, Japan, Mexico, Czech Republic, Brazil and South Africa will compete in Group A.

The IV WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup will start on 28 July. The world championship gold medal game will be played on 6 August.
