Strong Mexico heads to U-23 Baseball World Cup

After finishing fifth in the U-23 World Cup they hosted in 2016, the ‘tricolores’ want to improve. Manager Enrique ‘Che’ Reyes can count on players who have professional experience. Mexico’s first game will be against Chinese Taipei

Mexico is heading to the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup to compete.

The Mexican Baseball Federation (FEMEBE, Federación Mexicana de Beisbol) will field a team of players with experience in the professional Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (LMB), including seven who played in the most recent Serie del Rey (King Series, the championship series) between Sultanes de Monterrey and Guerreros de Oaxaca.
Enrique Che Reyes, who won the LMB in 2005 as the manager for the Tigres de la Angelópolis, will manage the Mexican National Team.

The ROSTER

World number 6 Mexico will compete in group B with the hosts Colombia (World number 16), Japan (2), Chinese Taipei (5), The Netherlands (7), and South Africa (26). Mexico will debut in the tournament against Chinese Taipei on Friday, 19 October.

Mexico hosted the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup in 2016 and finished in fifth place.
