Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico earn last 2 tickets to WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018

The Dominican Republic went undefeated to win the Pan Am Qualifier and earn the nation’s historic first-ever ticket to the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018. Finishing in 2nd Place, Puerto Rico will also play the USSSA Space Coast Complex

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The Women’s National Baseball Team of the Dominican Republic went undefeated to win the Pan Am Qualifier and earn the nation’s historic first-ever ticket to the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018, the biggest tournament in the discipline.

Finishing in 2nd Place, Puerto Rico will also play for the world title at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in August.

The D.R. shut out Mexico, 3-0, today to complete a sweep of Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Needing a victory to avoid a three-way tie in the standings, Puerto Rico defeated a winless Argentina, 12-2, to return to the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 Viera, Florida – Nations qualified by continent:

The last Women’s Baseball World Cup in 2016, in Gijang, Korea, was the biggest ever women’s baseball tournament, with a broadcast reach of approximately 100 million households and more than 6 million online views from 198 countries and territories.

Japan has dominated the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup, winning the last five editions and finishing runner-up in the first two world championships.
