China shut out Venezuela and virtually pushed them out of the race for fourth place in group B of the Softball World Championship. Japan outscored, 6-0, and outhit, 11-2, Great Britain and leads undefeated

Japan shut out, 6-0, and outhit, 11-2, Great Britain to remain the only undefeated team in group A of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship.

Great Britain’s starter Carling Hare quickly retired the first 2 hitters, but then the middle of Japan’s order got to her. Center fielder Saki Yamazaki hit a double and third baseman Yu Yamamoto connected for a monster home run to left field to make it 2-0.

Great Britain reached base only 3 times (2 hits and a walk) against Yamato Fujita, who went the distance to pick the win, striking out 6.

Yamato helped herself in the top of the third, as she homered to make it 3-0 and send Hare to the showers.
Japan added 3 more runs against reliever Georgina Corrick.

Japan is still undefeated

China defeated Venezuela, 6-0, and strengthened its fourth place in group B of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship.

China loaded the bases in the top of the second against Desiree Ibarra on a couple of walks and a base hit by left fielder Liu Yining. Ibarra walked in the first run and a bloop double to left by shortstop Li Huan extended China’s lead to 3-0.

China blew a big chance to score as they hit into a triple play in the top of the third. Lu Ying and Wang Bei hit back to back single. With no one out, catcher Wang Mengyan grounded out to second. Lu was slow in getting out of second base and was tagged for the second out at third. Wang Bei was tagged for the third out at second.

Michelle Floyd took over for Ibarra in the top of the fourth.
After hitting into a double play, China got to the newcomer. With 2 outs, Liu Lili walked, stole second and scored on a base hit by right fielder Li Qi.

China added 2 more runs in the top of the seventh against Alondra Perez on a double by center fielder Chen Jia.
Wang Len went the distance allowing only 4 hits and a walk and picked up the win
