U-12 Baseball World Cup: only Japan undefeated after Day1 of the super round

RAin delayed the final game of the day between Chinese Taipei and Korea. In the opener, Japan defeated Venezuela. Cuba outscored Mexico and is now back in the race for the final

The final game of Day 1 of the super round of the U-12 Baseball World Cup was delayed by rain after one inning. Chinese Taipei was leading, 6-0,  against Korea. The game was going to resume after one hour, but a second thunderstorm delayed play of 75 more minutes.

Chinese Taipei didn’t need to look back. Pitchers Chen Kai Sheng, Chang Yao Yun and Lin Cheng Yu limited Korea’s offence to four hits and third baseman Huang Tien Szu had a three-hit game.

Japan showed impressive pitching and when Venezuela’s bats got to starter Aoki, defence prevented runs. The young Samurai showed they can manufacture runs and also rely on power.
Japan beat Venezuela, 4-1.

Cuba relied on a dominant effort by starting pitcher Alejandro Prieto, who was almost untouchable, and first baseman Christian Saez, who went 4 for 4, with a home run and five RBIs, to outscore Mexico, 10-0.
Cuba is back in the race for a spot in the World Championship game.
