Only 4 nations remain alive at Asian Jr Women’s Softball Championship

After 28 round robin games, only four teams remain in the run for the Asian Junior Women’s Softball Championship being held in Clark, Pampanga, Philippines. No.2 Japan, No.5 Chinese Taipei, No. 12 China and No. 15 Philippines will play the playoffs.

After 28 round robin games, only four teams remain in the run for the Asian Junior Women’s Softball Championship being held in Clark, Pampanga, Philippines. No.2 Japan, No.5 Chinese Taipei, No. 12 China and No. 15 Philippines will play the playoffs.

The three-time champion Japan ended the round robin undefeated, with seven consecutive wins, and tomorrow will face the defending champion Chinese Taipei (2nd place) for the first spot in the final. The round robin game between both sides finished with a 5-4 win by Japan in a very close game. The contest will start at 10:15. Both teams have already qualified for the WBSC Junior Women’s Softball World Championship 2019.

At the same time, in the second playoff game, China (3rd) and host Philippines (4th) will play not only for staying alive in the tournament, but for the third and last berth in the WBSC World Championship next year.

Korea (5th), Malaysia (6th), Thailand (7th) and India (8th) started yesterday the placement playoff round. Korea defeated Malaysia by 9-2 and will play tomorrow for the fifth overall place in the standings; while Thailand reached a 10-0 victory over India, who finished in the last place.

Tomorrow Malaysia and Thailand will take the field at 8:00, and the winner will advance to play for the fifth place against Korea at 12:30.
