USA Softball to play four televised Olympic tune-up games in Florida next week

The games are part of the Stand Beside Her tour, a series of games to prepare the US squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that had to be cancelled last year after the pandemic outbreak.

USA Softball has announced four exhibition games to be played in Florida as part of the preparation process for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games softball competition. Slated for March 12-14, the U.S. Women’s National/Olympic Softball Team will compete in three exhibition matchups against the University of South Florida, followed by a solo contest against the University of Florida on March 16.

All four games will be live streamed ESPN+ (the games against USF) and SEC Network+ (the contest against UF).

These games will be played after the recently rescheduled three-game series against world No. 5 Mexico, from 8-10 March. USA, the top-ranked nation in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings, is staging a 16-day training camp at Eddie C. Moore Complex as part of a one-year sponsorship agreement with Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Sports & Events (VSPC).

The games are a part of the Stand Beside Her tour, presented by Major League Baseball (MLB), and will provide much-needed preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games, where the sport of softball returns to the Olympic Program for the first time since 2008.
