Australia-Japan game suspended after four innings due to weather

Game 3 of The World Games softball event was suspended due to lightning, thunderstorms and heavy rain after four innings with Japan leading 10-1.

The game between Australia and Japan for Group B of The World Games has been suspended today with Japan leading 10-1 after four complete innings due to lightning, thunderstorms and heavy rain in the Met Hoover Stadium area. Date and time of resumption of play is TBD.

WBSC Player of the Year 2021 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games MVP Yamato Fujita started in the circle for No. 2 Japan and hit a two-run home run in the first inning.

For Japan, Hitomi Kawabata was perfect at the plate in two at bats, with two runs scored and three RBI. Minori Naito also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Australia started Ellen Roberts, who gave up five hits and five runs in 1.2 innings, and had one strikeout. Australia’s only run of the game was a Taylah Tsitsikronis home run in the top of the second inning.
