France took a 5-1 lead in the third, then Chinese Taipei reversed with a seven-run rally and went on to close the game by the run-difference rule. At the end of the game, the WBSC awarded Chinese Taipei the second ticket for the 2024 Thunder Bay World Championship Stage.

WBSC IX WBWC Group B Day 4: Japan shut out Chinese Taipei, both advance to Finals 2024. Venezuela win extra-inning thriller against Cuba.

Japan became the first team awarded a ticket to the 2024 World Championship stage as they beat Chinese Taipei. Puerto Rico outscored France, and Venezuela won an extra-inning thriller against Cuba. They will play a one-game playoff on Sunday for a spot in the final stage. Saturday's results also saw Chinese Taipei book a spot in the 2024 tournament. They will be awarded their ticket on Sunday, after the game against France.

Venezuela win extra-inning thriller with Cuba, will compete with Puerto Rico for third spot in Finals 2024

Starting pitchers Mariana Natera and Yanet Cruz went both the distance as Venezuela and Cuba fuelled into the extra inning for a chance to earn a ticket to the World Championship stage. Venezuela won on a bunt by Srishna Arciniega in the bottom of the eighth.

IX WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group B - Day 3: Japan, Chinese Taipei one step closer to Finals 2024

The hosts won a tough game against Venezuela thanks to a walk-off hit by backup catcher Nanako Hanabusa. Chinese Taipei outscored Puerto Rico. They are both 3-0 and will face each other on Saturday. With Cuba, Puerto Rico and Venezuela tied at 1-2, the third ticket for the Finals next year in Thunder Bay, Canada is open.

Nanako Hanabusa leads Japan to walk-off win over Venezuela, keep unbeaten run

Venezuela took a 4-2 lead in the fifth. Japan tied the game in the bottom half of the frame and won it on a two-out and two-strike walk-off hit by catcher Nanako Hanabusa in the bottom of the seventh. Legendary Ayami Sato pitched in relief to earn the win.

Chinese Taipei took a comfortable lead, scoring six in the bottom of the first. Lineups outplayed pitchers, and the two teams combined for 23 hits. Still, the game's turning point was a perfect sliding catch by Chinese Taipei's left fielder Yu Chuan Tu.
