The Dominican Republic and Australia advanced to the Finals 2025 as the top two teams in Group A. Venezuela, third place, will be in the mix for one of the two wild cards. Mexico finished fourth ahead of Czechia and the Philippines in fifth and sixth respectively.

Playoffs schedule announced for WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Group A

After four days of competition, Venezuela clinched the No. 1 spot in the standings with a 5-0 record, followed by the Dominican Republic with a 3-2 record. Both teams will play at 17:00 at Mundialistas Hermosillenses with the winner punching their ticket to next year's Finals in Canada. Australia and Mexico earned the third and fourth-place spots respectively, and will face each other in an elimination game at 17:00, at Fernando Ortiz stadium.

WBSC Men's Softball World Cup 2024 Group A - Day 4: Mexico defeat Dominican Republic, advance to Playoffs to play Australia. Venezuela sweep Opening Round, Czechia win two to finish fifth

Australia, Mexico, and Czechia each finished the Opening Round with 2-3 records, tying them for third place. However, due to the tie-break system, Czechia finished in fifth place. As a result, Mexico and Australia will face off in an elimination game at 17:00 at Fernando Ortiz Stadium.

Behind a great pitching performance by 18-year-old Jehanz Coro, the Philippines beat Mexico, 3-1, at Fernando Ortiz Stadium and earned their first win of the tournament. The Player of the Day Coro (pictured second from left) went the distance giving up only three hits, one run and three walks, while striking out five.
