WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari elected as new SportAccord Treasurer

President Fraccari now holds the additional roles of SportAccord Treasurer & Executive Committee member as well as ARISF Secretary General.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) President Riccardo Fraccari has been elected as Treasurer of SportAccord following the first meeting of its new Executive Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland on Monday.

President Fraccari was confirmed as a SportAccord Executive Committee member as a representative of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) during the SportAccord General Assembly on Sunday. He will serve as Treasurer alongside newly elected President Uğur Erdener and six other new Executive Committee members, who all have four-year mandates.

The SportAccord General Assembly, which validated the proposals from the global sports umbrella organisations - ASOIF (3), AIOWF (2), ARISF (2), AIMS (1) - for appointment to its Executive Committee, also voted in favour of adopting new statutes, which are focused on bringing strong governance to the organisation in line with other Olympic Movement stakeholders.

WBSC President Fraccari expressed his honour at being elected and emphasised that he is looking forward to working alongside President Erdener and his fellow Executive Committee members to ensure that SportAccord is best placed to serve all its stakeholders, both inside and outside the Olympic Movement.

“SportAccord plays a unique and important role in bringing together all major stakeholders across the sport's, and sport business, world and I am delighted to have been elected as Sport Accord Treasurer as part of the Executive Committee," President Fraccari said. “I am looking forward to working alongside President Erdener and the other new Executive Committee members to make Sport Accord an example as one of the best organisations in the world of sport while also looking to create sustainable and profitable products for each of the SportAccord member organisations as well as create a strategy to stay relevant for the modern era, particularly for today's youth."

President Fraccari, who as ARISF Secretary General also delivered the ARISF General Assembly on Monday, where new statutes were unanimously approved to bring ARISF inline with the new Swiss organisational norms, good governance standards and with the new sports landscape marked by the dissolution of GAISF.

SportAccord, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Tuesday, is hosting the International Federation Forum 2023 from 13 to 15 November in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The organisation is focused on bringing together all organisations involved in the business of sport, including International Federations, to help them promote and protect their common interests and achieve their global objectives.
