USA Softball announced that the 2019 USA Softball International Cup will take place in Columbus, Georgia, at the South Commons Softball Complex, where softball made its historic Olympic debut in Atlanta 1996. The invitational event will be held from 1-7 July and will be an opportunity for National Teams to tune-up for the WBSC Olympic Qualifiers and the 2020 Olympic Games themselves. USA already qualified, after winning the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship 2018 in Chiba, Japan.

“Returning to Georgia for the 2019 USA Softball International Cup is particularly special for us because of the memories we have from the 1996 Olympic Games”, said USA Softball Executive Director, Craig Cress.

South Commons Softball Complex is an eight-field complex, which includes a five-field hub with a roundhouse and a three-field fan with stadium, indoor score booths, concessions, and restrooms.  USA Softball of Georgia will also be hosting a youth fast pitch event in conjunction with the 2019 USA Softball International Cup.

All games of the WBSC sanctioned event will be broadcasted. In addition to free online broadcasts of non-televised games through USA Softball website, fans will also have the opportunity to catch Team USA in five televised games on the ESPN networks.

USA Women’s Softball National Team will be guided again by Ken Eriksen, who was reconfirmed by USA Softball as Head Coach for 2019. Last year Eriksen led USA to the WBSC World Championship in Chiba.
