PRETORIA, South Africa – The African qualifier for the 2018 WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship will open tomorrow in South Africa and run from 12-14 January.
The Women’s National Softball Teams of No. 35 South Africa, No. 33 Botswana, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe will battle to earn a spot on the highest stage for international women’s softball.
Softball South Africa – a WBSC member national federation – will host the four-nation tournament with the top two nations advancing to the world championship in Chiba, Japan.
Africa will be represented by two new nations at the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship. No. 36 Kenya and No. 29 Uganda represented the continent at the previous world championship in 2016.
