Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifier: Israel falls, Spain beats Italy in Day 4

This is a full recap of what happened during Day 4 of the WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifying Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020. Links will take you to the tournament web pages for full report, boxscores, stats and a selection of HD photos.

The Netherlands defeated South Africa, 7-1, to start Day 4 of the Baseball Europe/Africa Qualifier.
Sharlon Schoop led the Dutch offence with a two-run homer. Yurendell Decaster and Ademar Rifaela had also a two-RBI game. Mike Bolsenbroek earned the win, Dean Jacobs suffered the loss.

Israel lost the first game in the tournament. The Czech Republic used a three-run home run by Martin Cervenka and a solo shot by Matej Heim to win 7-4. Marek Minarik struck out ten in 6.2 innings to earn the win.

Spain disappointed a raucous crowd in Parma as they beat the hosts Italy, 4-3. Italy wasted scoring opportunities early in the game and in the top of the eighth and showed again defensive flaws. Reliever Daniel Alvarez pitched 3.1 innings and earned the win.
