Baseball at Bolivarian Games in Colombia opens Saturday

SANTA MARTA, Colombia-The XVIII Bolivarian Games will see baseball action at the Parque Deportivo Bolivariano starting Saturday, 18 November

The men’s baseball event at the the XVIII Bolivarian Games in Santa Marta, Colombia, opens on Saturday, 18 November, with 2 matches: Peru-Panama (2 pm local time) and El Salvador-Colombia (7 pm local time). Venezuela is the fifth participating team and will debut against Peru on Sunday.

The 2 top teams after a round-robin will compete for the gold medal in the final, scheduled for Thursday, 23 November.

The softball tournament saw Venezuela claim the gold medal.

WBSC sanctions and recognises baseball and softball at the Bolivarian Games, which happen every fourth year and are organized by the Organizacion Deportiva Bolivariana (ODEBO; depends from the Pan American Sports Organization-PASO), the Government and the Olympic Committee of Colombia, the Mayor of Santa Marta. The Bolivarian Games are a multi-sport event (34 disciplines) that involves those countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela) whose republican origin is attributed to the ideals of Simón Bolívar.
