Chinese Baseball League resumes, features 10 teams

The competition has been suspended after the 2019 edition amid the COVID-19 outbreak. A pitch limitation will apply to games with the goal to develop more pitchers.

The first edition of the Chinese Baseball League since 2019 opened in Wuxi, Jiangsu, on 15 May. The 10 participating teams will compete in 106 games.

After a single round-robin, the top eight teams will advance and compete in two more round-robins in Chengdu and Tianjin.

At the end of the third round-robin, the two teams with the best records will advance to a best-of-three final series in Tianjin.

The Chinese Baseball Association president Chen Xu announced that a pitch limitation would apply to the games with the goal to develop more pitchers.

The Chinese Baseball Association earned the hosting rights for the fifth WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup in 2024, the first WBSC baseball event to be hosted in Mainland China.

The competition venue will be the Shaoxing Baseball Softball Sports Culture Center, China's largest and highest standard baseball facility and host of the baseball and softball tournaments in the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
