Czech Republic reveals roster for WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship on home soil

Host Czech Republic released the 17-player roster for the XVI Men’s Softball World Championship, to be played from 13-23 June, in Prague and Havlickuv Brod.

Host Czech Republic released the 17-player roster for the XVI Men’s Softball World Championship, to be played from 13-23 June, in Prague and Havlickuv Brod. Head Coach Tomas Kusy selected an experienced group of athletes to play at home soil in the pinnacle international men’s softball event.

The pitching staff will be guided by World Championship veterans Jaroslav Brenik, Michal Holobradek and Jonas Mach, along with right hander Marek Joska, one of the three newcomers in the team. A total of 14 players have World Championship experience.

Coming from a ninth place performance two years ago in Whitehorse, Czech Republic hopes to make the most of the home advantage to make the playoffs, aiming to finish fifth for the first time in history.

The host team was drawn into Group A, along with a very competitive group of National Teams including the defending world champion and world No. 1 New Zealand, Japan (3), Argentina (5), Mexico (9), Botswana (13), the Philippines (17) and Cuba (24).

Czech Republic will open the World Championship on June 13, at Svoboda Park in Prague, playing host to New Zealand in the only match of the day, immediately after the Opening Ceremony.
