Czech Softball recognizes the best of 2019
Czech Republic Softball Association closed a historic year on Wednesday with the Czech Softball Gala, where the best players, coaches and umpires of the year were awarded by the national federation.

In June, Czech Softball organized an outstanding Men’s Softball World Championship, hosting the flagship tournament for the first time in Europe.

In one of the most emotional moments of the night, all the National Team members who retired in 2019 were honoured for their successful international careers. All those present at the gala gave a standing ovation to Ludmila Kučerková, who retired from the women’s national team, and David Mertl, Jiří Nezbeda, Patrik Kolkus, Petr Vácha, Tomáš Petr, Václav Svoboda, Tomáš Kusý (men's head coach), who played a key role in the eighth-place campaign at the Men’s Softball World Championship 2019 on home soil and hung up the cleats from international play after the event.

Also during the celebration, the President of the Czech Softball Association and the European Softball Federation, Gabriel Waage, was inducted into the Czech Hall of Fame.
