High quality pitchers headline Mexico, Dominican Republic clash

GUADALAJARA, Mexico –  Host nation Mexico will begin their 2019 WBSC Premier12 campaign against a high-quality Dominican Republic on 2 November in Guadalajara.

This is the second time no. 6 ranked Mexico and no. 12 ranked Dominican Republic have met at the Premier12, with Mexico claiming a 9-5 win.

History will be on the line for the Dominican Republic, who are looking to register their first Premier12 win after going 0-5 in 2015.

Two well-credentialed arms will match-up in Group A, with Mexico’s Eduardo Vera taking on the Dominican’s Enny Romero.

Romero – who brings five years of MLB experience to the Dominican roster – recently finished his first full season with the NPB’s Chunichi Dragons, posting a 4.26 ERA in 21 appearances.

Eduardo Vera got his first taste of AAA baseball in 2019, starting 22 games for the Indianapolis Indians, and has thrived in the Mexican Winter season, allowing only four runs in 14.1 innings of work for Mexicali.

First pitch is slated for 7.00pm CST at Estadio de Beisbol Charros de Jalisco.
