IBAF Women’s Baseball Development Seminar in Edmonton under way

Not only is the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup being played in Edmonton, Canada right now, but for the first time a Women’s Baseball Development Seminar will be held at the same place. The seminar started on Thursday and will be concluded on Sunday, August 19. Sessions will be held right at Telus Field to allow participants to follow the competition closely.

The seminar started on Thursday and will be concluded on Sunday, August 19. Sessions will be held right at Telus Field to allow participants to follow the competition closely.

Justine Siegal, who is the chair of the Technical Commission at the V Women’s Baseball World Cup and also heads the Commission for the Development of Women’s Baseball, is the initiator of this IBAF seminar. “Baseball is a global game and being played by men and women everywhere. The Women’s Baseball Development Seminar is showcasing best practices from around the world and is encouraging new baseball programming for girls and women worldwide.”

Holly LaPierre, Dave Gilroy (both Canada), Lee Kwang Hwan, Lee Alcham (both Korea), Syed Fakhar Ali Shah (Pakistan), Edwin and Victor Calderon (both Puerto Rico), Dennis Brown and Clare Flave (US Virgins Islands) came especially for the seminar to Edmonton, Canada. Chang Sylvia Yung-Chung and Peng Wen Ming from Team Chinese Taipei and members for Cuba, Japan, the Netherlands and Venezuela are speaking at the seminar as well as members of the Technical Commission Megumi Kitta (Japan),  Kitty Au (Hong Kong), Giuseppe Guilizzoni (Italy) and Robin Wallace (USA). The people present successful national team programs and are exchanging ideas about Women’s Baseball around the world.
