Mexico wins first U-23 Baseball World Cup preparation game

The 'tricolores' defeated the Yaquis de Obregon of the Mexican Pacific League 5-4 in 7 innings. Manager Enrique 'El Che' Reyes will use warm-up games to cut the roster down to 24.

The U-23 Mexican National Team defeated professional club Yaquis de Obregon of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), 5-4, in 7 innings. It was the Mexican National Team's first preparation game for the upcoming WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup, which opens Thursday, 23 September.

Manager Enrique El Che Reyes, who led Mexico to a U-23 World Title in 2018, will use these preparation games to cut his roster down to 24 players.

World No. 5 Mexico will open its U-23 World Cup against No.16 Czech Republic on Thursday in Group A action in Ciudad Obregon. The other teams competing in Group A are No. 3 Chinese Taipei, No. 6 Dominican Republic, No. 11 Cuba and No. 18 Germany.
