Taiwan Professional Softball League regular season set to end this weekend

The final five games of the TPWSL will be played in Kaohsiung, a port city in southern Taiwan, and will close the 40-game second half of the season.

The Taiwan Professional Softball League (TPWSL) will wrap up the second half of the 2020 regular season with five games slated for 10-11 October in Kaohsiung. The fifth edition of the TPWSL was the first softball league in the world to start the 2020 season after the coronavirus pandemic.

New Century Wasps enters the final weekend on top of the second-half standings, with a 12-2 record, followed by ChiaNan Eagles, who are one game behind the Wasps. The two teams will play two decisive contests this weekend, including a key matchup against each other in the opener of the final weekend.

The winner of the second half of the season will advance automatically to the championship final, since the XinLiWang Lions (winners of the first half) are seven games behind the leaders in the overall season standings and have cemented their place in the best-of-five games semi-finals.

Last year, New Century swept the finals against the Lions to claim the title.
