U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup: USA, Puerto Rico get started with shut-outs

UCLA’s pitcher Megan Faraimo was literally unhittable: she led the USA to a shut-out win against Mexico striking out the 12 batters she faced. Puerto Rico emerged as the winner in a game against Brazil that had been a pitching duel through the fourth

The USA and Puerto Rico were off the U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup with shut-outs.

The defending World Champions USA made their debut in the U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup with a 15-0 win in four innings. UCLA’s Megan Faraimo proved literally unhittable for Mexico since she got all the 12 outs she needed on strikes.

Puerto Rican pitcher Esperanza Coe threw a 6-inning, 1-hit shutout and homered in the sixth inning to guide her team to victory in the first day of competition of the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup. Puerto Rico defeated Brazil, 8-0, in six innings to open the action in Group C.
