USA Softball announces 2019 calendars for Men’s, U-19 Women’s National Teams

USA Softball announced the 2019 schedule for their Men and U-19 Women’s National Teams, ahead of their participation in the WBSC global events this year: the Men’s Softball World Championship and U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup

USA Softball announced the 2019 schedule for their Men and U-19 Women’s National Teams, ahead of their participation in this year’s WBSC global events. The men’s side will be playing the WBSC World Championship in the Czech Republic, from 13-23 June; while the U-19 Women’s National Team will play host to other 15 countries at the WBSC World Cup in Irvine, California, from 11-17 August.

The USA Softball Men’s National Team schedule for the 2019 season has been set as World No. 6 USA sets their sights on a pair of Gold Medal finishes. Highlighted by the WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship and the Pan American Games, a mixture of local tournaments and exhibition games in multiple cities will prepare the team.

All 18 members of the training team will meet in Cancun, Mexico from 1-5 May for the FPS Cancun tournament to officially kick off their 2019 season. The U.S. will also compete alongside reigning world champions and No. 1 New Zealand in the Jack Grafmeier Memorial Fastpitch Tournament in Kimberly, Wis. From 31 May to 2 June. The team will break briefly before meeting up in Stevens, Pa. for exhibition games 8-9 June prior to the WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship in the Czech Republic.

The team will finish out the 2019 season in Lima, Peru for the Pan American Games set for 25 July to 1 August. In eight Pan American Games, the U.S. has claimed the Silver Medal in all but one event, falling just short the podium in 2015 with a fourth-place finish.

Aiming for the three-peat

As world No. 1 USA prepares to defend and strive for a three-peat at the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup in Irvine, Calif., a mixture of exhibition games, training and competitions against prominent youth fast pitch softball club teams and international federations will prep the 2019 training team roster.

Members of the team will meet at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex in Houston, Texas from 10-16 June to officially start their 2019 season.
The athletes will resume their U.S. prep in Atlanta, Ga. for a pair of exhibition games against the Georgia Impact and Birmingham Thunderbolts on June 30 before participating in the USA Softball International Cup, which will be held from 1-7 July in Columbus, Ga. The team will continue on to Spartanburg, S.C. in conjunction with the USA Softball Junior Olympic (JO) Cup where the team is slated for exhibition games 21-22 July.

Each of these stops leads up to the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup, set to take place from 11-17 August at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif.
