Asian Championship opens, will qualify 3 for WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2018

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan–The 28th edition of the BFA Asian Baseball Cup will serve to qualify 3 teams to the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2018. Korea (reigning champion), Japan and the hosts Chinese Taipei are favorites

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan — The 28th BFA Asian Baseball Championship opens today and will serve as a qualifier for the WBSC U-23 Baseball world Cup 2018. The continental championship concludes on Sunday, 8 October, with the top three nations advancing to the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup next year.

The Asian Baseball Championship will be a 7 team tournament.
Korea is the reigning champion and defeated (18-0) Sri Lanka in their first match. Japan opened the tournament with a thundering (30-0) win against Hong Kong. Chinese Taipei will take over Philippines in the third match of the opening day. The seventh participating team is Pakistan. They will debut on Tuesday 3 October against Japan.

There’s a lot of anticipation about 3 left handed pitching stars: Choi Chanheung (22, Hanyang University, Korea), Lu Yeng Chin (21, Nacional Taiwan University) and Taiki Tajima (21, JR East, Japan).
