In a game that was interrupted for more than two hours due to rain, the Dominican Republic beat Korea, 8-2, and took a fundamental step thinking on advancing to the Super Round.

The game clearly had two very different parts. The first four innings, with a dominant performance by both pitchers that was interrupted by the rain, and the last five episodes, where the Dominican offence was strong again.

The Korean starter Won Joon Lee was brilliant during 4+ innings in which he did not allow hits and only gave 2 walks, before the rain forced to the suspension of the match. The Korean starter struck out seven, although he left a runner in circulation, since at the top of the fifth Ariel Sandoval negotiated a free pass, just before the rain delay.

More than two hours later Sandoval would score the first run of the game, with a single by Jeison Guzman against Sang Dong Lee (who relieved the starter on the mound whe the game restarted), which caused Won Joon Lee to be the loser of the game, despite its spectacular outing.

In the same fifth episode Wendell Rijo singled to left field, to plate Gomez and Moreno and put the game 3-0.

For the Dominican Republic, Adams Cuevas took the ball to replace starter Michael Santos, who had not allowed runs in four innings. Kyeong Tae Hwang received him with a single, Yu Yeon Park walked and Chan Hyung Kim hit a long fly ball to advance both runners.

Sandro Cabrera replaced Cuevas, but Jin Won Ye drove in his two teammates with a hit to center field, putting the game 3-2.

In the sixth episode Hee Woon Ryu relieved Lee, but the right-hander could not stop the Dominican offense. With two outs on the board Andretty Cordero and Dariel Gomez singled, and Hansel Moreno doubled to put the game 4-2.

One inning later, Eguy Rosario swung to a pitch on the inside corner and hit a long home run to left field that fell out of the Olympic Village complex, in what has been the longest home run of the tournament in Monteria.

In the top of the ninth Dominican Republic secured the match with a three-run rally, including an RBI double by Rijo, a single by Yoel Gonzalez, and a double off the bat of Ariel Sandoval.

The winner was Edwin Adon in 3.2 innings of work, striking out 7 enemies, allowing only 2 hits and 2 tickets.

After two games, the Dominican Republic remains unbeaten and tomorrow at 10 am will face Australia. In the other hand, Korea has a record of one win and one loss, and play against Puerto Rico tomorrow at 15 hs.
