Rain wins on Day 3 of the U-23 Baseball World Cup, games cancelled in Barranquilla

The game between South Africa and The Netherlands began on time but was first delayed after 2 innings and then cancelled. The game between the hosts Colombia and Chinese Taipei never started and was cancelled after a 90 minute wait

Torrential rain forced the U-23 Baseball World Cup Technical Commission to cancel two of the three games scheduled to happen at Edgar Renteria stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia, on Sunday 21 October, 2018.

The afternoon match between South Africa and The Netherlands started, as scheduled, at 3 pm but had top be initially delayed in the bottom of the second inning. As the intensity of rain decreased, the ground crew got the field ready, but soon after rain became torrential again and the game was cancelled.

The night game, scheduled to begin at 8 pm, never started. After a long wait, the Technical Commission cancelled it at 9.41 pm.

Both games will be rescheduled on Wednesday, 24 October, originally a rest day. Start time will be announced at a later date.
