Japan, Chinese Taipei qualify for WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2018, Korea and Philippines battle for third spot

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan-Japan and Chinese Taipei will represent Asia at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup and will compete for the gold medal in the Asian Championship. Korea and Philippines will play for the third spot and the tournament bronze medal

Japan and Chinese Taipei will compete for the title at the 28th Asian Championship, while Korea and Philippines will play for the bronze and the third spot in the WBSC U-23 World Cup 2018.

The tournament is down to the final day in Taipei City, Taiwan on Sunday, 10 October.

On Friday the hosts Chinese Taipei defeated (14-0) Philippines and Japan shut out (3-0) Korea. Starter Masaki Tanigawa threw an 11 strike out gem for Japan over 8 inning and Shoik Kitamura went 2 for 3.

On Saturday Korea outscored (11-0) Philippines and Japan did the same (10-0) against Chinese Taipei in a warm up of the medal games.
