Venezuela still perfect, lonely on top of Group B

For the second consecutive night Venezuela won a game in which he started losing. This time it was the Czech Republic that took advantage early in the game, but the Venezuelan offense scored in five consecutive episodes to claim the match 8-2.

Czech Republic took advantage of the lack of control of pitcher Diosward González in the second inning to score the first rune of the game. Martin Muzik and Martin Cervinka walked, while Jakub Grepl bunted and reached base to load the bases. Filip Mostek had a good at bat and with a full account he received a base on balls to make it 1-0. Then Gonzalez got out of the jam with two consecutive strikeouts.

However, the European champion scored again in the next inning with an RBI single by Cervinka, to plate Marek Chlup, who had reached second thanks to an error by right fielder Leandro Cedeño.

After pitching three perfect innings, Czech starter Daniel Padysak walked Yonny Hernandez in the fourth. The Venezuelan leadoff hitter stole second base and then advanced to thirdon a pass ball. From there he scored thanks to a balk of the pitcher, when his team still had not connected a hit.

An inning after Venezuela tied the score with an RBI single off the bat of Oscar Campos, to plate Juan Yepez, who had doubled. And in the sixth the South American exploded with four runs including a homer by Leandro Cedeño, to take advantage.

Venezuela would score one more run in the seventh with a solo homer by Joscar Álvarez, and the last run of the game with a single to Carlos Machadoin the eighth.

The winner was Miguel Burgos in relief of 0.2 innings, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. This is the second victory of the tournament for Burgos. The loss was charged to Daniel Padysak who received 4 runs and 4 hits in 5.1 frames.

Venezuela is the only leader of Group B with an ideal record after three presentations, and tomorrow will play against the Dominican Republic at 15:00 hs. For its part Czech Republic will play with Puerto Rico at 20, looking for their first win of the event.
