The Global Game podcast: Mexico baseball manager Benji Gil talks Olympic dreams

“We must take advantage of this opportunity. As Mexicans, nobody has taken the chance of winning an Olympic gold medal in baseball,” said Gil.

Benji Gil was appointed manager of the Mexican National Baseball Team that will compete in the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics this past June, replacing Juan Castro. He was the guest in The Global Game, the WBSC podcast Spanish edition hosted by Adriana Flores.

“We must take advantage of this opportunity. As Mexicans, nobody has taken the chance of winning an Olympic gold medal in baseball,” said Gil, who currently is the manager of Mariachis de Guadalajara in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB). “We must enjoy it. Focus on our goal that is winning a medal, but enjoying each and every single moment, because we will speak about this experience to our children and grand children. This is an experience to be enjoyed by generations.”
