World No. 1 Japan win XXXI WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

It's their first World Title in the age bracket after losing four finals, the latest on home soil in Osaka in 2015. Left-hander Yugo Maeda pitched a complete game. The U-18 Samurai scored all the runs they needed in the top of the fourth.

XXXI WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup Day 10: medal round set, Chinese Taipei and Japan will play for the World Title, USA and Korea for bronze

Chinese Taipei beat Japan in the last game of the Super Round and earned home-field advantage in the World Championship final. Korea and the United States prevailed in the three-way tie with Puerto Rico thanks to the TQB tie-breaking rule and will play for bronze.

Puerto Rico scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. Relief pitcher Jarrette Bonet earned the win, keeping the US lineup hitless for 4.1 innings. There will be a three-way tie in third place, behind Chinese Taipei and Japan.
