Tien-Mou/Taipei City. Chinese Taipei concluded the second day at the II 12U Baseball World Cup with a 16-0 shutout over reigning European Champion Czech Republic in the evening game at Tien-Mou Stadium on Friday. For CT it has been the second win in the tournament, while the Czech squad dropped to 0-2.

Chinese Taipei scored in each of the four innings played, rounded up with a seven-run fourth. Seven errors by the Czech helped them in the process. The European defense still delivered the highlight of the night, when left fielder Miroslav Krivanek made a diving catch on a fly ball by Chia-Cheng Hu to end the top of the fourth.

The host offense was led by their first two hitters in the batting order. Leadoff Chih-Chun Chen scored four runs. Chun-Hao Ma, who was hitting in the two spot, went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs and five RBI. Patrik Kadrnozka, Ondrej Lochman and Martin Grundmann had the three hits for the Czech.

On the mound three pitchers shared the workload for Chinese Taipei. Ching-Yu Huang struck out three in 1 1/3 perfect innings to pick up the win. Grundman got charged with the loss, conceding five hits, six runs and two base on balls in 1 2/3 innings.

On Saturday Chinese Taipei will meet with Japan in the highly anticipated matchup in the afternoon at Tien-Mou Stadium. Both teams are 2-0 in the tournament.
