Honduras 14 – Germany 3
Honduras cut things short with Germany, scoring in each of the first four frames en route to a crushing 14-3 victory. Kevin Reyes, Guilmar Ruiz and Luis Salinas scored three runs apiece to pace the Central American attack. Salinas also threw 5 2/3 innings of three-run ball to earn the win. Germany didn’t get much going offensively and lost for the fifth time in the tournament.
Argentina 12 – Italy 9
Argentina beat Italy 12-9 to close out play in Group 2 at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship. The Gauchos scored six runs in the third and five in the fifth to build a quick lead. M. Cruz highlighted the first rally with a grand slam. Five errors by the Italian defense helped them in the second. But the Squadra Azzurri didn’t give up, scoring six runs combined in the sixth and seventh to turn a blowout into a three-run game. However the rain came and stopped play in the seventh inning, sealing the victory for Argentina.
