A troubled beginning of the game by starter Michele Pomponi gave Lithuania the opportunity to take an early lead on team Italy: three doubles and a single meant a 1-6 score at the end of the second inning.

The Azzurri came back in the second with a seven-run big inning opened with a triple, followed by 2-run double by Friggeri and bases loaded single by Cestarelli; a wild pitch and two more base-hits gave the Italians a 6-7 lead that Lituania was not able to threaten, scoring 1 more time in the fourth.

Team Italy scored again 3 times in the third and 7 times in the last two innings, effectively protecting Stefano Burato’s win with a total of 15 hits, three doubles and three triples.
