15U BWC: Venezuela shuts out Ukraine in Tournament Debut

Venezuela entered the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship on Friday with a 15-0 shutout over the Ukraine. They scored 11 of their 15 runs in the second inning of the blowout. For the European team it was their second loss in the tournament.

Star of the afternoon in Cuauhtémoc was starting pitcher Gabriel Noguera. The left-hander allowed just one hit and two walks in five scoreless innings, while striking out ten. At the plate Greifer Andrade set the highlight with a homerun in the fifth. He retired the last 11 straight batters.

Kyrylo Tereshenko was charged with the loss. Pavlo Sadovskyi had the lone Ukrainian hit in the first.
