18U BWC: Cuba crushes Italy in 6 innings

The Caribbean lineup collects 12 runs between 2nd and 3rd inning to get a mercy-rule victory

TAICHUNG STADIUM.Cuba cruised easily through Italy towards a 15-0 victory in a game cut short by the mercy rule of the 18U Baseball World Cup.

Fifteen (vs. three) were also the hits the caribbean lineup collected out of the four pitchers the European staff put on its way.

The game was technically solved after a 5-run second and a 7-run third innings, when the Americans sent respectively 10 and 11 players at bat, while the Azzurri were not capable to find the way to read Arbelio Quiroz’s pitches: the Cuban starter only allowed four opponents to reach first base.

Clean up Yanio Perez went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs, same number of teammates hit home for Yoan Moncada, out of a loaded bases triple in the third, in a pefect 2 for 2 performance.
