Arecibo to defend title against Vega Alta in Puerto Rico Double-A Women's Baseball League final

Defending champions, Lobas, enter the series with a clean 15-0 record. Maceteras will play for the pennant for the first time.

Vega Alta Maceteras will play the defending champions Arecibo Lobas in the Puerto Rican Double-A Women's Baseball League final series. The best-of-five series will open on Sunday, 28 January at the Julio Papo Davila Stadium in Vega Alta.

Lobas will compete in their 12th final. They have only failed to qualify twice out of 14 editions for the championship games. Maceteras advanced to the final for the first time.

Arecibo has a clean 15-0 record in the 2023-24 season. They swept Juana Diaz Poetas in their best-of-five semifinal series (3-1, 14-9, 4-0). Women's Baseball World Cup alum Zoe Collazo and rookie Yedlimar de Jesùs combined a no-hitter to clinch the third game.

Vega Alta overcame the 2022-23 runner's-up Las Piedras Artesanas 3-1 (14-2, 0-3, 15-5, 9-0) in the other semifinal. Veteran Katiria Dàvila (another Women's Baseball World Cup star pictured above) dominated on the mound and at bat in Game One. At the same time, Paola Rosa shut out Las Piedras in the second game.
