Artemisa to host Cuban Youth Baseball5 Championship finals in May

The hosts and defending champions will face Havana, Mayabeque, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo. The senior finals will also take place in May in Havana.

Artemisa will host the Cuban Youth Baseball Championship finals from 20 to 26 May. Seven teams will participate in the finals, including the first- and second-place finishers of the three regional zones (Havana, Mayabeque, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo) as well as the hosts and defending champions Artemisa.

Havana and Mayabeque qualified out of the West Zone after Havana beat Mayabeque in the final 2-1 (4-1, 2-6 and 3-0). Artemisa finished third, followed by Pinar del Rio and Matanzas.

Ciego de Avila won the Central Zone defeating Sancti Spiritus in the final 2-1 (1-6, 13-7, 5-4). Camaguey finished third, ahead of Villa Clara and Cienfuegos.

Cuban Youth National Team coach Sergio Arturo Pérez and WBSC Baseball5 World Cup winner Orlando Amador held a clinic for the region's participating coaches and physical education teachers during the tournament.

Santiago de Cuba beat Guantanamo in the East Zone final 2-1 (3-2, 0-2, 4-0). Granma finished third ahead of Holguin and Las Tunas.

Meanwhile, Havana will host the Cuban Baseball5 National Championship finals from 7 to 12 May. Havana, Artemisa, Camaguey, Sancti Spiritus, Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba qualified through the respective Zone Finals.
